Happy National Quitter Day!
January 14th is known as National Quitter Day because 43% of people who set goals for a ‘New Year New You’ will have already quit… with 80-90% goal setters quitting before the end of January. Many people believe that the masses drop off because they set goals that are too unrealistic, they don't have a good system or a schedule, or because they lack desire. While all those things are essential to follow through and hammer your goals for the new year, the reality is most people don't fail because a lack of desire, systems, schedule, or too high of hopes… They fail because they negotiate with themselves when pressure shows up… They say things like: “I'll do it tomorrow." “I'll get back on track next week.” “I'll get after it when football season is over.” “It's just too hectic right now.” “I just need things to calm down.” “I need a vacation right now.” This is not a motivation, schedule, systems, lack of desire, or too high of hopes problem. This is a discipline issue. When push comes to shove, your mind can do it, but your unconditioned body negotiates with your mind… and… you give in and retreat back to your comfort zone for yet another year of mediocrity. Are you sick and tired of your body having more control over your mind 🧠 than you do? Then stop negotiating with it. Will it to do what you want.
