Baby Schleiger is set to arrive early January! So... I may be out of the office for Momma and Baby appointments -- keep connected on Facebook (LIKE US ON Facebook if you haven't already) or announcements at the office so you don't show up when I'm not here. ;)
I will be out of the office Tuesday August 4th from 2-4pm. Will be back from 4-7pm (August 4th) and orientation to follow at 7pm as usual.
Friends and Families wondering if chiropracTIC is right for them?? Send them to orientation Tuesdays at 7pm or Saturdays at Noon.
August is "RYF Month".
If RYFing isn't easy enough... we've just made it EASIER!
Here at The Wellness Pointe we do our best to keep things simple, straight-forward and honest to keep YOU, your FAMILY, and COMMUNITY Subluxation-free. That is why we are offering "RYF MONTH"!
For the month of August 2015 we are REDUCING our first day member cost to $20/member (usually $35/member) or $50 for an entire family. This is a GREAT opportunity for all your FRIENDS and FAMILY members to begin chiropractic wellness care while removing any financial barriers.
At the same time, those weekly wellness TWP members doing the RYFing -- referring -- (YES, YOU!) will be given a chance to win a
$100 gift card to PIGGLY WIGGLY.
HOW DOES IT WORK??
1. Take as many "RYF" cards as you wish (located at the front desk in office)
2. Write your name on the back (legible)
3. Hand them out to FRIENDS and FAMILY members that you know will benefit from living LIFE subluxation-free (or INVITE them to Orientation! wink, wink ;)
4. When they bring the card in for their first visit (within the month of August), the card (with YOUR name on it) will go into a drawing for a chance to win the $100 gift card.
The more RYF's the BETTER the chances to win!
August Newsletter: Some ChiropracTORS, like many people, are just DOGS!
Some doctors, like many people, are just dogs!! How does that make you feel? Does it strike a nerve?!? (pun intended) Well, don't be quick to judge my accusations because this newsletter comes from a place of love. Please read on...
I had a hard time writing the newsletter this month. I didn't know exactly "what to write about" and the few ideas I did have, I didn't know how to write them down on paper... until I had an encounter with the family dog... Rocky.
This dog is truly something else... It has to be one of the most "needy" animals I've ever been around.
He won't eat until the family starts eating.
He will wine and whimper from the second you leave the house, until the time you walk back in.
He cannot sleep alone... always curled up by your feet or next to your face. Being a pitbull-terrier this makes sleeping a little "cramped".
If you close the door behind you, he will sit, patiently, waiting for you to open the door for him.
He barks at every moving thing he sees... sometimes to protect you and other times, I think, to just annoy you...
As I sat and observed, at the surface, I thot to myself, "How do dogs have the title 'man's best friend'?" When I started to think beyond the surface and go deeper into thot, it started to make a lot more sense...
A DOG is one of the few animals who doesn't have to work for a living. A hen lays eggs, a cow gives milk, a lion has to hunt BUT a dog makes his living by giving... nothing but LOVE. Dogs don't have to take classes or read books about the science, physiology and psychology of GIVING and LOVING. They don't go to "self help" seminars or sit with a counselor to "become a better lover". They innately (instinctively) know that they can win/make more FRIENDS in a month by becoming genuinely interested in other people THAN they can in a lifetime by trying to get other people interested in themselves.
As I started to think about the purpose of giving and loving, as odd as it sounds, I wanted to be more like a DOG... more like ROCKY! ;) I wanted to only eat when others had enough to eat... I wanted to wait patiently until you came back after leaving chiropractic wellness and welcome you with a wagging tail... I wanted to BARK when I saw an intruder trying to threaten your family's health. I wanted to be your best friend.
DocTORS, better yet, SOCIETY as a whole, should be focusing more on their practice members/people and TAKE INTEREST IN THEM rather than (doctors) trying to get them (practice members/patients) interested in their service. If you just love people like a dog, you will make more friends, have more people to serve than you know what to do with! When you love like this, you don't have to work; just LOVE.
When YOUR MISSION is NOT built on the abundance of LOVE, you have to start SELLING (working) -- the "newest fads", scans, the newest cold laser, TENS units, spinolamisubluxinators, etc... This is when chiropractic (or any other profession) becomes WORK.
We all need to be more like "Man's best friend"! More giving for the sake of giving and more loving for the sake of loving.
Have you ever met someone with that kind of LOVE?? I have met One.
One who waits by your bedside and doesn't let you sleep alone?
One who eats with your family?
One who waits patiently til you come back home?
One who "barks" and guides you to keep you safe?
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. -- James 2:23
Man is God's best friend. Have you shown Jesus some Love lately??
In Health and Faith,
With Love and Appreciation,
See you later this week for your weekly spinal checkup!
~~ Dr. Chad
We will be closed Saturday July 4th in observance of our Independence so Get Checked before the fireworks!
I will also be out of town Friday July 24th-26th for "Bluegill Hunting" with my father-in-law in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
What's the difference between "Spiritual fishing" and "Physical fishing"??
Spiritual fishing requires catching and releasing. Physical fishing requires catching and EATING! :)
Then He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."
- Matthew 4:19
Chiropractic Orientation Classes: Class is not mandatory but HIGHLY recommended FOR EVERYONE to completely understand Chiropractic Wellness.
(Congrats to those who have attended!)
Chiropractic Orientation Class is Every Tuesday at 7pm and Saturday at Noon.
Thank YOU ALL for your continued RYFing!!!
ChiropracTIC and the Swiss Army Knife: Miracles and Gratitude
As a ten year old boy, I asked for a Swiss army knife for Christmas. To my delight, I received one! I was so thrilled--it had everything I THOT I needed... a knife, screwdriver, file, spoon, fork, corkscrew, scissors -- This knife HAD. IT. ALL!
However, I quickly found that the knife's extensive array of tools actually resulted in it being very INEFFECTIVE and could not do much of anything. You could not cut much with it, it was VERY difficult to eat with, the file did absolutely nothing, the scissors were awful, it was impossible to "screw drive" anything into anything, etc... Although it sounded like an IDEAL "tool", I soon gave it away to one of my friends because I found it more FRUSTRATING than USEFUL.
Eight years later I received a single blade buck knife, while working on Pearce Farms, which I still have to this day. Although the single blade buck knife could ONLY cut, it was AMAZING at cutting! It cut EVERYTHING from bale string to plastic boxes. It even cut off the sleeves of my shirt when the day got too hot.
All of those tools in the Swiss Army knife are valuable and beneficial tools, BUT when you COMBINE them together, each one loses it's individual effectiveness. If this was the knife given to the Swiss Army, its no wonder they are known as "neutral peacemakers" -- they have INEFFECTIVE weapons!
This reminds me of A LOT of modern day Chiropractic practices -- Docs add a little of "this" and some of "that" --- THINKING: "The more services, the more products, the more variety of STUFF is better for the patient". I would say that a lot of those services probably do have "some" benefit, but when you meld them together under one heading/roof, they each lose their effectiveness as well as the PRIMARY PURPOSE -- (to DETECT and CORRECT Subluxations). Nutrition counseling, fancy weight loss scams, traction tables, x-rays, re-exam after re-exam, Core Scores, scans, posture exercises, rehab, stretching, etc. severely limit the PRIMARY PURPOSE of ChiropracTIC JUST AS all the extra tools on a Swiss Army knife make it awkward and often ineffective to be used as a knife.
The desire for principled ChiropracTIC is NOT to deny the proper place of other natural and beneficial procedures BUT rather, allow the single bladed edge of ChiropracTIC to fulfill it's PRIMARY PURPOSE -- Detect and Correct Subluxations!
Should you exercise (Move Well)? Absolutely!
Should you eat clean (Eat Well)? Yes!
Should you pray often (Think Well)? That's a no-brainer!
Although none of it is ChiropracTIC -- it is still very beneficial and should be heavily considered as part of your "Wellness Cycle" ---> explained in Orientation Class.
July's Message: Miracles and Gratitude
A video has been circulating on Facebook and YouTube of a teenager struck with acute pain for 4 months with extreme kyphosis (hunched over) and a dead leg.
If you have 11 mins please watch the link above and THEN continue reading...
Here are my THOTS on the video and HOPES to bring chiropracTIC "full-circle" so you all can see the "BIG IDEA" -- as chiropracTIC calls it.
1. Chiropractic is pretty awesome! It's the largest healing profession in the world that involves "the laying on of hands".
2. Were any of the other family members (the Dad in the video) brought under chiropractic care? If not, then I believe there was a HUGE breakdown in communicating the chiropractic principles... Most likely because of the lack of orientation class.
3. Cases like this are what we call, in chiropractic, a "noisy miracle". This boy was unable to stand up straight, go to school, get around, sleep... he was unable to live his LIFE.... and in a few adjustments (given with skill, care, respect, etc.) he was able to get off the ropes of "Dis-ease", sickness and suffering TO functioning better, with more "ease" and without symptoms in a short period of time -- he was healing!
Here's the first question that went through my head after watching the video: "Were those few adjustments more powerful or more important than any few adjustments given to any single non-symptomatic practice member in this office?"
Example: Little Johnny comes into the office for his weekly visit, like he has been doing since his parents started bringing him when he was an infant. I check his spine for evidence of subluxation. This time, NO subluxation is present, so he hops off the table, gives me a high-5, tosses his face paper into the basketball-garbage hoop and I say, "see you next week!"
Chiropractically, which visit is bigger or more important?? Muntathar's (the boy in the video) or Johnny's?
Helping someone to get off the ropes of pain and debilitation is a noble and magnanimous, no doubt. It's also flashy and dramatic... It captures attention and really pulls on your heartstrings. As well it should! It's a "noisy miracle".
BUT if you were to step back and look at the bigness of LIFE in a chiropractic sense, you should see and understand (hopefully) that a "noisy miracle" is really not much more than a FAINT ECHO, when you compare it to the "silent miracles" we experience EVERYDAY, with practice members living their entire LIFE unsubluxated, or as close to it as possible.
Unfortunately, living an unsubluxated life is BORING compared to the "noisy miracles". Let's face it... they don't make prime time TV shows that are based on consistent, vibrant, vigorous health with life unfolding interference-free just as God designed it. People, even most chiropractors, don't see the "silent miracles" as heroic or uplifting... and they definitely don't pull on your heartstrings.
This is the MAJOR responsibility of a chiropractor (which is why I state in orientation class, "The most important thing I do in this office is TEACH THIS CLASS")... one who truly understands the basic principle of human design, one who delivers a specific (force) adjustment to the spine to release any hindrance of flow of LIFE from the brain to the body and is also one who introduces designed forces into the MIND of the PUBLIC so they fully understand the "Big Idea". Health comes from INSIDE-OUT! Not outside-in.
When chiropractors fail to do that, then the public ends up interpreting and understanding chiropractic falsely. The public will then perceive chiropractic as "whatever fits into their own current model of what they SEE and FEEL". The public will be in search of "chiropractic noisy miracles" -- and when they don't SEE or FEEL them, they will be disappointed.
Luke 17: 11-19 When Jesus went to Jerusalem He passed through the middle of Samaria and Galilee. There He entered a village and was met by 10 men who had leprosy. They pleaded for Jesus to heal them (a "noisy miracle"). Jesus told the 10 men with leprosy what to do, they did it (OBEYED), and they were HEALED of leprosy (If having a disease that affects your skin, mucous membranes, and nerves, causing discoloration and lumps on your skin and, in severe cases, disfigurement and deformities AND THEN being HEALED is not a "noisy miracle" by definition then I don't know what is! ;) )
Afterwards, all 10 men left.... BUT one man returned to "give thanks". Jesus asked the man, "Were there not 10 that were healed?!? Where are the other 9?"
Jesus then told this lone man (previously a leper), "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you WELL."
According to the scriptures, we don't know exactly what happened to the man when he was "made WELL".
To the naked eye it was probably less amazing, less of a "noisy miracle" than when he and the 9 others were healed of their skin falling off and limb-disfigurement BUT the message to take from this previously Dis-eased Samaritan is he returned to give God thanks! And when he did, he was "made WELL" -- A "silent miracle" that many (9 out of 10) forget to GIVE GOD THANKS for and ultimately MISS OUT ON.
Remember when you had constant low back PAIN, DIGESTIVE issues, constant MIGRAINES, your child had ALLERGIES, was given the diagnosis ADHD, or they couldn't SPEAK because they've been battling autism, and now they CAN TALK?! -- God healed you!
Have YOU returned to Thank Him??
In Health and Faith,
With Love and Appreciation,
See you in 7-10 days!
Most Americans love sports. We watch, play, talk about sports, jump off our couches with excitement, lose sleep (for some, money), we attend sporting events with our children, watch ESPN with them and discuss players and teams. Does this PASSION for sports influence parenting??
I know this: kids are very intelligent and they DO take notice. They rank famous athletes among the most admired people in their lives (73%), second only to their parents (92%).
Thirty-six million children in the U.S. play organized sports. When they start, it's a brave new adventure for them (as well as the parents). For me, it started when I was 8 years old. When asked, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" My answer, after watching Jordan win his first NBA championship was, "I want to be an NBA player."
Pretty cool, right?
Athletes, the next president, an astronaut, etc... These are the "standard" comforting responses to the question: What do you want to be when you grow up??
It's great BUT is it really a PRACTICAL answer when you're 16 years old and the careers teacher asks you the same question and your answer is still the same?? I can only imagine her face now... It was only cute hearing, "I want to be the next Michael Jordan" when I was 8...
It started by going to Sunset Park when I was little and playing against the older kids. Then it turned into getting a hoop outside my house, signing up for Lewis Camp, joining the 6th grade YMCA league, and then other leagues... as I started to get better I was invited to play at "open gyms" with the "really good kids", I was invited to other leagues that were more competitive for me and more expensive for my mom and then they asked "the question", "Are you doing the SUMMER LEAGUE this year?" My FACE LIT UP! I can tell you now, the only reason my mom paid for them was because of the look on my face that day --- Bless her heart --- she knew deep down that I wasn't going to be the "next Michael Jordan" but she knew I LOVED playing basketball. From here, things started to snowball... not only my OBSESSION with basketball but the price it cost to play in league after league... after league... tournament after tournament... etc...
Obsession? Yes! BUT let's start with the GOOD:
Basketball's valuable LIFE LESSONS: I loved being part of a "team". I got really good at calculating averages. I knew my points per game, assists, rebounds, winning percentage, etc... I didn't keep track of all the "bad stuff" like turnovers and missed shots. If I lost against someone in 1 on 1 or against a team I was eager to play them again. If we won a game, I felt like I could levitate off the ground! There was something good about having to be "on time", tuck my shirt in and compete. I learned:
My mom use to tell me all of these things til she was blue in her face but there is something different when I (or kids) are LIVING IT on and off the court. The "good stuff" about youth sports is EXCEPTIONAL: exercise, fresh air, new friends, team-work, new skills, proprioception (had to throw that word in somewhere :) ), discipline... BUT why did it keep me (and most likely my mom) up at night??
Parenting an "Athlete":
Basketball (as are other sports) is a huge, time-sucking, money-swallowing, energy consuming beast! Youth sports can very easily and completely overwhelm the family routine.
7th grade YMCA league had 2 practices per week and games on Saturday. Middle school practice was directly after school everyday with 2 games per week and only 1 was a home game. Socks, shorts, new ball, jersey, dues, and of course.... the overly expensive NEW SNEAKERS that everyone "had to have". My mom would race me from place to place soooo fast she was given the nickname "Mario Andretti" from the neighbors. We rarely had dinner as a family and when we did it was in front of a T.V. watching the Bulls. Church was out of the question and I could barely hold a conversation without the words "good game" or "and one". But is was never the "disrupting of the family routine" that worried my mother -- she would do anything for her kids to see them smile. It was never a question of sports or homework. My mother always made me do my homework before going outside to practice and my grades where always well enough to keep her and my teachers happy. The BAD thing was, (now that I look back on it) why was my mom making such a HUGE effort for me to play sports?? Does anyone else wonder the same thing??
The above gripes are straightforward issues I've seen first hand, experienced first hand and what I hear from parents and it is their job to address and resolve them. They're in the job description. What I agonize over is the PRESSURE on these kids to perform.
It's the fourth quarter and down by 1 with 5 seconds left. You are told in the last timeout, "This is a very important game" (aren't they all??). You just got fouled and are at the free throw line shooting 2. The crowd erupts, the bench jumps up and you see the coach fist pump the air -- but you're still down by 1 -- You head to the free throw line, the crowd get so quite you could hear a pin drop. You take your routine 3 dribbles and get ready to shoot and you start to hear the noise of the opposing team's bench and their crowd -- "Miss it!", "Choke!", "Airball, Airball!" (They must have remembered your play in the first quarter). You remember and apply all the childhood basics: Right foot aimed straight at the center of the rim, left foot slightly behind, knees bent, follow your eyes up to the rim, aim for the back iron, and hold your follow through and... It works flawlessly -- nothing but net! The crowd erupts even more!! -- BUT we're still tied. The next free throw holds the outcome of the teams future. You make it and WIN. But if you miss, it's overtime. You have 4 fouls (one from fouling out) and your "big guy" is on the bench fouled out. It's all up to YOU. No one is thinking about the 8 turnovers the team had in the first quarter, the missed layup before halftime and the 7 missed free throws up to this point. If you miss, it's not only a personal loss but it could also be a loss for the team.
It all comes down to your child. He looks to be holding it together BUT you want to puke all over the stands...
How has shooting hoops with the "older kids" manifested into so much stress it makes us want to lose our lunch in the stands?? Does making this free throw really change his future?? What if he misses it?? (Maybe that's why some parents want to vomit) Maybe it's because they (parents and coaches) put more value in winning than they do in TEACHING their children how to try their best and hold nothing back and then how to RESPOND no matter the outcome (whether win or loss). I wish I was done here. But I'm not... It gets UGLY.
Something is not right:
Doping, cheating, scandal, murder?? What is going on?? These things hit the news and ESPN and I never remember hearing about them when I was watching ESPN or watching the Bulls when I was a kid. SO what has changed?? Bad news about sports is not limited to just professional athletes. Educators, social workers, doctors, psychologists and other professionals working with children have been sounding the alarm as well:
There's reason for concern:
"Are youngsters from 12 years of age sufficiently mature enough and emotionally stable to engage in traveling 2,000 miles to play in sporting events in front of 8-9 thousand spectators?" -- N.Y Times, 1952
Professionals are highlighting the "dark side" of youth sports, including:
Thank you for reading! Play Ball! --- BUT have tons of fun!
Finding the Fountain of Youth:
Whether it's collagen injections, colostrum pills, botox, or Viagra, the search for the secret to youthful looks and an active life appears to be a lifelong one for many people.
Certainly some of these powerful potions, lotions and pills are effective in reducing the outward appearance of aging, but what about the inward appearance? What's the point of looking like a 29 year old on the outside when your body feels and functions like an 89 year old on the inside?
Regardless of your age, Elkhorn chiropractic can help you:
Maximize your potential - Your body naturally produces cortisone to reduce inflammation, T-killer cells to fight cancer and pathogens, and endorphins to help alleviate pain. These endorphins are 100x's stronger than morphine! Your body has the incredible ability to naturally heal, regulate and maintain homeostasis/balance for a lifetime as long as it's interference free. Your body knows the exact amounts, levels and quantities of these chemicals to produce, at exactly the right time -- whether you're in a "flight or fight" circumstance or "growth and development" circumstance.
Would you expect a woman's body to get pregnant (growth and development circumstance) when it's producing "stress chemicals" (or producing a "fight or flight" environment inside)??? Of course NOT!
Chiropractic adjustments remove interference within the nerve system to allow the body to coordinate, maintain and express LIFE the way it needs to no matter the situation... and regardless of your age.
Keep small problems from growing large - Through out the course of your life, you will be exposed to viruses, illness, injuries, stressors, etc. that will cause your body to respond with production of aches and pains (other symptoms like hypertension, high cholesterol, weakened insulin sensitivity, hormone imbalances, etc...) and produce interference with it's natural functions. This is (sometimes) unavoidable. However, when under chiropractic care, your body will function better and can potentially help decrease recovery time and prevent small problems from becoming large ones.
Better adapt to stress - We live in a fast paced, hi-tech, stress filled world that can leave you behind if you haven't planned ahead. Chiropractic keeps your body at its best helping you ward off the destructive effects of stress before it has impact on your health and quality of life.
Chiropractic has helped millions of families ensure that they feel as good as they hope to look. Chiropractic adjustments can play a vital role in your quality of life now and in the future.
Chiropractors in Elkhorn, WI are here to help! Hope to hear from you soon!

Have you ever had to factory reset an electronic device that went haywire? You can usually hit the 'restore' button to get it working like it did when you took it out of the box. Do you ever feel like your body could use a "factory reset"?? Well....
there's a profession dedicated to that EXACT PURPOSE!
Our bodies are bombarded with daily stress -- urgent work deadlines, unexpected family crisis, sitting at a desk all day, sports, outdoor activities, environmental pollutants, medications and poor food choices -- can throw the BALANCE of your NERVOUS SYSTEM off (Subluxation).
The result -- your body can slow down, run sluggish or even "freeze up" with an illness or Dis-EASE.
A Chiropractic adjustment works to hit the reset button to restore your physiologic settings back to the Creator's "factory setting" after cumulative stress "throws it off".
When you're a little overworked/overwhelmed maybe it's time for an extra adjustment (or time to start chiropractic) to reset your body back to the Creator's settings.
Chiropractic has nothing to do with "feeling good" or "feeling better". When Subluxation occurs, the cells at the end of the nerve start to DIE, when enough cells DIE, tissues DIE, when enough tissues DIE, organ systems DIE, when enough organ systems DIE, you _____. (You fill in the blank)
Chiropractic is about "restoring", "maintaining" and most importantly EXPRESSING LIFE at 100% just as the Creator designed you!
Move More, Eat Clean, Be Happy and Get Checked Weekly for Subluxation to live LIFE Subluxation-Free!
Chad Schleiger, D.C.
262.215.2292 or TWPChiro@gmail.com to schedule an appointment or orientation to learn more about chiropractic.
One of the most common questions asked after orientation (or by many of the people I'm attempting to "win to wellness") is, "I don't understand how your fee schedule works..."
So, I hope I can clarify IT some more in this blog. It comes down to a very simple principle -- (after orientation) the fee schedule in this office is NOT the "fee I charge you for care", it's the "fee YOU choose to keep you and your family subluxation-free". The TRUTH is, there is no "correct fee" for CHOOSING to live life subluxation-free. If you want to use this office as an "aspirin" THEN you can stick to my fee schedule -- because you are still committed to Health equating as "feeling good" or "being pain free" or "in less pain".
You can be in pain and still 100% healthy and you can feel good and be in poor health. Health has very little to do with how you "feel".
As I tell people in orientation and this applies with everything in LIFE -- you must address the "cause" of the problem before you can provide a solution.
The problem with "fee schedules" in the chiropractic world revolves around 2 things: We call it, "The Co-Operative Chiropractic Problem".
Many of our profession considered the first (#1) of less importance than the latter (#2), therefore enlarge upon the latter and belittle the first.
Chiropractic is a very simple principle, practice, and procedure.
The Simple Principle:
Many chiropractors endeavor to impress practice members (patients) with the notion that it "cures" sickness, aches and pains rather than educating the simple principle that EVERYONE has his or her own inborn, God-given potential to express LIFE at 100% (and it comes from within their nervous system, not hidden "within" a medicine cabinet).
The Simple Practice:
Many chiropractors practice in an office where they have to meet the demands of third-party payers/insurance companies, ICD-10 regulations, hire assistants to keep audits out of harms way all while taking time and energy away from building relationships with their practice members, within their community and increasing the cost of care. Their patients both COME to their office for the WRONG REASONS (in pain/pain management) and LEAVE for the WRONG REASONS (out of pain, still in pain or insurance benefits run out). The chiropractic adjustment has been the same yesterday, today and forever and was built upon the simple practice of "detecting and correcting subluxations for the sole purpose of maintaining wellness".
The Simple Procedure:
Because of being tied to third party payers, many chiropractors have to implement procedures to follow -- anyone who works in another doctor's office you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about -- (as to not get caught by some fraudulent act) -- now these chiropractors have to work for "the system" rather than the patient in need of care. They xray EVERY new patient, provide traction tables before and after adjustments, use stim, heat, ice, ultrasound, thermal scan re-evaluations, and 40 adjustment "treatment plans" with a "sign the dotted line and prepay for your care" contract -- all while billing insurance companies for unnecessary procedures. They "over exam", "over xray", "over treat", "over bill" ALL because of procedures and trying to off set the cost of their "overhead".
With all of that said, the solution to the cause of the problem was to withdraw from the system and to create a fee system that was congruent with my beliefs and the simple principles of chiropractic: A chiropractic adjustment is, in fact, priceless. It restores the normal flow of LIFE from the source to fully express itself in the living body. How much is that worth?
To me, in this day, chiropractic is an ESSENTIAL part to keeping you and your family healthy --- YES, I said, ESSENTIAL! (30 years ago... maybe not... but we encounter more STRESS (3 T's) in 1 day than our great grandparents did for their entire first 30 years of life).
Set Fees for services are a good thing for things not essential:
I pay a SET FEE for my haircut because it is not an essential part to my health, I pay a SET FEE for my coffee because it is not an essential part to my health (although some may argue it's an essential part to other's health if I don't get my coffee in the morning ;) ). I pay a SET FEE for my "health insurance", car, home/rent, etc... because they are not essential to maintaining health -- some of these expenses may seem essential only because they are regulated by federal and state laws now. I would even pay a SET FEE for my medical expenses and my gym membership because they are not essential to me expressing LIFE at 100%. (I don't need a gym membership to Move Well -- but some choose because it keeps them motivated -- but not essential)
If chiropractic is essential, How can I turn away someone from care if my fee is $35 per visit and they cannot afford it for each member of their family to get checked weekly?? If I turned them away it would contradict my belief and principles.
I hung a box on the wall and let the patient pick a fee that is within their means so that EVERYONE, regardless of whether they are a billionaire or a pauper can afford to live life subluxation-free. For some it's $150/week, for others it's $100/week, $40/week, for some $20 or $10/week and for some, I'm sure their fee is with an "r" BUT it's YOUR/THEIR fee and it will always be within your means to keep you, your family and friends subluxation-free. I hope you use the office just like my family because that is what I think of all you! -- FAMILY.
It's very simple...
In Health and Faith,
With Love and Appreciation,
Chad Schleiger, D.C.
It's a LONG Newsletter this month but take the 10mins to read through!
Thank YOU to all who attended "The Perfect Storm" workshop! for Autism Awareness Month (April). I hope to do the workshop again in September or October (after school starts and parent's schedules "slow down/brake pedal" and summer is over) for those who missed it and give those who attended the chance to bring a friend or two to the next workshop so we can inform the community.
1: I will not be doing any additional workshops over the summer (weather is too nice to talk people into boredom for 90 mins ;) ) BUT Chiropractic Orientation is STILL EVERY Tuesday @ 7pm and Saturday at Noon. So don't forget to "RYF" while you're soaking up Vitamin D all spring/summer! RYF-ers are much appreciated!!
2: The "honor box" is a privilege as I feel I cannot set a price on Health and Life for any family. I allow families to SET their OWN FEE for care if they want to come to the office WEEKLY to Get Checked for Subluxation to maintain health and express life at 100% just as my family and friends use the office. The FEE you choose is between "You, God and The Box". After someone says to me, "I want to use the honor box" I will NEVER ask them for MY fee for care in this office and I assume they understand the rules for using the "honor box" privilege. What is it worth to keep your family subluxation-free?
Rules for the "Honor Box" Privilege:
1. You MUST attend the Chiropractic Orientation Class -- so you understand chiropractic -- to use it as a "tool" to fix your subluxation to stay well -- and so you DON'T think you're coming weekly to "feel good" or get your "bones cracked" ;)
2. You come weekly (every 7-10 days) to Get Checked for Subluxation (I explain "why" in orientation class -- if you forgot, maybe a refresher class would benefit and your family)
3. Put YOUR FEE in the honor box on the first visit of the week (if you're here more than once).
4. RYF -- RYF = "refer your friends and family" or tell other people about chiropractic, subluxation and the honor box system BECAUSE the "Big Picture" is to create a community where children are ridiculously HEALTHY, HAPPY and DRUG-FREE. What's that worth??
**5. If I do not see you after 14 days from your last appointment (without a phone call reason -- "In Arizona taking care of Aunt Ruth" or "It's farm planting season" THEN you lose privilege of using the honor box and your next visit will be $35.
3. Don't forget to get a massage! Or if you know someone who is pregnant or trying to get pregnant and looking for some support during and after pregnancy make sure to get them in contact with Mrs. Casey from Down to Earth Wellness! Casey Bonyata is a Birth Doula and Massage Therapist who holds monthly meetings at The Wellness Pointe for any family looking to raise HEALTHY kiddos! What a blessing!

Ok, enough Reminders... Here's May's Newsletter!
The Magic Eye, Faith and Chiropractic
Today’s reading lead me to Matthew 6:25-34. I found it fitting for this month's Newsletter, as I've been having similar conversations with my wife as we wrongly attempt to "take matters into our own hands" instead of giving Him ALL control and having "child-like faith" that He will provide just as He says He will.
"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying 'What shall we eat?' or "What shall we drink?' or "What shall we wear?' For after these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. -- Matthew 6:25-34
Have you ever tried one of those Magic Eye pictures?
You know, the ones that just look like a big mish-mash of colors and lines on a page that have no real significance but have a 3-dimensional picture hidden within it? Faith, chiropractic, relationships, (many things actually) are a lot like one of these Magic Eye pictures. You can’t fully SEE the BIG picture until you Relax, Stop trying so hard, STOP THINKING and see through the picture on the surface and see into the full image.
Some people will stare at the picture for hours, days or a lifetime and still not be able to see the beauty which lies beneath the surface. It will FRUSTRATE them as others tell them how beautiful it is until they either see it OR they begin to get so angry that they DENY the TRUTH and silently curse those that can see it to protect their EGO. They begin to rationalize and tell themselves that they are more intelligent than the simple minded that see beneath the surface, that there really is no additional beauty beneath the surface and that those that say there is are CRAZY! They say it for so long that they actually begin to truly believe that there is NOTHING. That the ones who can see more than a mish-mash of colors and lines should keep quite and they call them LIARS.
Then, there are those who will look at the image for a moment and see the hidden beauty beneath the surface right away, effortlessly. They "Ooh" and "Ahh" as they marvel at the three dimensional image explode instantaneously into their mind. They walk through the image with the same ease as you and I would ride a bike. These people are truly blessed and connected but they are the rare ones.
And then, there are YOU and I. We stare at the picture and see nothing at first. We get a little frustrated, but a friend who sees the full beautiful image beneath the surface, keeps prodding us on. Sometimes this comes in the form of a friend who sees the full image and keeps telling us to look "a little deeper", to look "through the image" and not "at it". They tell you to "RELAX", to "Stop trying so hard", to "STOP THINKING". “STOP THINKING?”, you ask yourself completely frustrated!!! What does that mean?? How do I turn my "thinking" off?? You want so badly to be able to have what they are enjoying -- what they are experiencing. You want so badly to Give, Serve and Love the way they do but you have Tried So Hard and have failed so many times! (excuses start to set in, you start thinking about your past failures, etc.) You have tried to relax so much that it just makes you more upset! You tried to stop thinking but that just made you analyze the picture (faith, chiropractic, work, your spouse, finances, etc) even more and become so frustrated that you GIVE UP. And, in that moment, you STOPPED THINKING and when you did, your eyes, heart and soul RELAXED and you began to SEE. As if, scales have fell off your eyes... At first, you begin to see just the cross, and then you notice that Jesus is hanging on the cross. As it becomes clearer, you notice the soldier piercing His side with a spear -- the blood and the water pour out and mix -- Then you see the two crosses behind Him with the criminals who were crucified beside Him.
It becomes so CLEAR that you realize it's not Mary and John kneeling at the cross... It's YOU -- lifting up your King with encouragement, thanking Him as He endures the cross for you. As the lump in your throat swells and tears roll from your eyes, you hear the words "It is finished"... you look at the ground before you... a puddle of blood and water at the foot of the cross accumulate. All the frustration, tiredness, ego, pride, and worries subside as you ask yourself two questions, "Why Him and not me?" and "How can I apply this blood and water to my life?"
As a former medipractor (chiropractor hand cuffed to a third party payer system -- health insurance) who could never see the full beauty and wonder of Chiroprac-TIC; For someone who was told "don't bring faith into your work by the Wisconsin Chiropractic Association because it is a conflict of interest for (any) business". For someone who was told, "You're crazy! It'll never work". For those of us who get frustrated by work, relationships, marriage, finances, or doubt... For those that were promised it would be "so much better." For those of us that were told to "Just Relax" and "Stop Thinking" and were angry, frustrated and/or jealous, who nearly gave up and then, by some miracle SAW…
For those of us that it did not come easily to, who struggled to see it and THEN let go and let GOD; the fruit of our labor is so much sweeter than our labor.
For whom is the beauty of a sunrise more meaningful, the man who could see ALL his life or for the blind man who regains his sight just before the dawn?
I am grateful to have regained my VISION for Chiroprac-TIC just before the dawn and the faithful practice members that He has blessed me with. And forever grateful for the scales that continually fall off my eyes each day -- to see further than just the surface -- I PROMISE you, there is a much BIGger and more beautiful picture. If you see it, you're the rare one. But those friends and family members who are getting frustrated, angered, worrisome, and are about to quit; DON'T let them! Keep encouraging them, keep loving them so one day they will "stop thinking", Let Go and Let GOD.
FYI -- I have not yet seen the beauty of this full picture beneath the SURFACE but a friend told me to "go deeper" so EVERYDAY I will do my best and keep searching.
Just this past last month I SAW, yet another, non-verbal, autistic kiddo VERBALLY tell me "Bye" after his adjustment. What is that worth??
We have yet to see the beauty of this full picture and his full recovery BUT just seeing the SURFACE is enough for us to "go deeper" EVERYDAY.
May is going to be a great month! See you all later this week!
In Health and Faith,
With Love and Appreciation,
Chad Schleiger, D.C.
