After calls like this one above, it was time to get back to the way things were meant to be.
Right now, many people are using medications in order to keep their bodies going during a crisis situation. And while your body keeps going, these drugs don’t allow your body to function anywhere near as well as it was designed to, and the end product is nowhere near as meaningful or fun as it could/should be. It’s time to get back to the way things were meant to be.
Chiropractic care helps your whole spine function optimally, so that your whole nerve system can function optimally. And when your whole nerve system functions optimally, your whole body and your whole mind can function optimally. AND, when your whole body and mind function optimally, your WHOLE LIFE is better, and you legitimately win, every time.
If you're tired of bad calls and bad refs, Call Us!

Sports Chiropractic in Elkhorn
Chiropractic is an integral part of the care that many professional athletes receive. But just because you aren’t going to the Olympics doesn’t mean that you too can’t improve your health and performance with chiropractic care.
When it comes to sports injuries, weakness or improper stretching can put you at risk of getting hurt. There are two basic types of sports injuries: the first is the result of a trauma inflicted by incidents like a collision or a slip or a fall. The second type is caused by the overuse of a muscle group or joint whereby the repetitive movement of the same area causes an inflammation or injury.
It is vitally important to get proper care for any injury to prevent the development of chronic problems or permanent damage. Chiropractors are trained in treating sports-related injuries, so can advise you in the best way to heal an injury and how best to prevent it from recurring. In fact, earlier research has suggested chiropractic is the most effective conservative treatment option for athletes with back pain.
Chiropractic care for sports injury can range from massage therapy to joint manipulation, or specific exercises that target problem areas and strengthen previously injured or weakened muscles and joints.Working in conjunction with a qualified trainer and a chiropractor can help you stay in great shape and prevent injuries.

Can Chiropractic Improve Your Game?
The demands athletes place on their bodies require them to work like finely tuned, well-oiled machines. Especially for professional athletes, there’s little time for injuries in their intense training and competition schedules, which is why virtually every American professional sports team has a sports chiropractor on staff to care for its athletes.
Sports, whether at the amateur or professional level, require a combination of strength, balance, coordination and flexibility to succeed. To reach the height of achievement in any sport requires split-second reflexes, peak structural strength and stability and a will and determination to keep going when the going gets tough. It requires a body that is functioning at its highest capacity.
As a sports chiropractor in Elkhorn, Dr. Chad focuses his attention on the function of the spine and the vital nerve tissue (the spinal cord) that is encased in it. When it is in proper alignment, the spine protects the spinal cord from damage, while its 24 separate moving parts (the vertebrae) provide a perfect combination of stability and flexibility to allow for a full range of functional movements.
The Effect Of Spinal Dysfunction On Athletic Performance
When even a single vertebra is misaligned, the effects are not only painful, but can also result in diminished function of the nervous system, which is required to coordinate the rest of the musculoskeletal system. When the messages being transmitted by the nervous system are even slightly affected, the results can be quite dramatic.
For example, if the dysfunction is in an area that affects the function of the shoulder, the milliseconds difference in muscle-firing patterns can mean the difference, for a baseball pitcher, between a well-placed, high-speed strike and an off-target ball in the dirt. If a golfer develops dysfunction within the joints of the lower back, the difference in core stability can mean a loss of several yards off the tee, leaving a much more difficult approach shot to the green. And if the misalignment affects the pelvis or legs of a world-class sprinter, this slight difference can be all it takes to turn a gold medal into a 5th-place finish.
What The Evidence Says
One recent study, appearing in The Journal of Chiropractic Research and Clinical Investigation, reported that athletes who received chiropractic care exhibited up to a 30% increase in athletic ability after 12 weeks of treatments. Areas tested included skills such as kinesthetic perception, power, reaction time, agility and balance. Improvements were significantly greater than those who did not receive chiropractic treatments during the same period.

Elkhorn Chiropractor Helping families and children with Concussions
According to a new study in JAMA Pediatrics, concussions are common in middle and high school girls playing soccer. While CDC numbers indicate 173,286 sports-related brain injuries among children, about 50,000 of these injuries occur in middle and high school soccer players. That's almost a third of childhood traumatic brain injuries, and yet the CDC openly acknowledges that these figures are hard to track so the numbers may be even higher!
However, for anyone familiar with the short-term and long-term repercussions of this injury, the scariest stat is that 58.6% of teenagers who get a concussion continue playing soccer through the symptoms! Many doctors feel that "brain rest" is one of the most important things to do with any athlete suspected of having a concussion. Continuing to play and risk additional injury is dangerous.
It's clear that recreational and school athletic teams must do a better job of assessing, monitoring, and protecting these young athletes, but it's also the parent's responsibility to protect their children. If you have kids, we recommend contacting their school and coaches to make sure both are informed about brain injuries and know how to appropriately assess and treat them.
Additionally, there is more to be concerned about than just the really scary injuries. Physical trauma in sports is very common, and long-term structural changes to the spine can result in chronic pain and dysfunction. That's why I recommend all children, especially athletes, get checked regularly by a chiropractor to ensure they not only prevent chronic injuries, but also perform at their best!

Balance and coordination is an often overlooked part of fitness and should be trained as much as strength and endurance. From our science class, we learned that balance and coordination is controlled by several parts of the body, namely the eyes, the ears and most importantly...mechanoreceptors in joints (also referred to as our "6th sense" - Proprioception). These senses pass on the data it has gathered via the nerves to the muscles to appropriately move about gracefully. In older people though, these senses deteriorate and as a result, balance may worsen. Improving balance and coordination can benefit everyone, especially the elderly, to make you feel healthier and fit.
Thing is, there are many factors that may hamper one’s balance and coordination. The alignment of your neck, your spine, and your pelvis is one. Age and disease is another problem. What chiropractic aims to do is to adjust these misalignments in your body to achieve optimal balance. Think of it this way, when your pelvis is misaligned, your body needs to compensate for that misalignment. Perhaps your neck shifts to one side to promote balance but in turn causes you stiffness and neck pain. Chiropractic sees these global problems and adjusts the body, improving balance and coordination.
Age and disease as well is another problem that contributes to poor balance. With poor balance, the elderly are prone to slip and falls. It hinders mobility and lessens the overall quality of life. Diseases such as arthritis and osteoporosis most especially hamper ones balance and coordination. This is why many elderly people are in for hip replacements and knee repairs as they have fallen on their buttocks.
Chiropractic also aims to alleviate this problem, with the adjustment. When the spine is not in correct alignment, it is said to be in subluxation. One cause of subluxation may be as a compensatory mechanism for another problem. Perhaps your neck is misaligned, your lower back compensates, and this compensation leads to lower back pain. Regular visits to your chiropractor will help relieve you of this problem and ultimately improve balance and coordination.
But other than chiropractic adjustments, good chiropractors also promote the other things that every doctor does: good nutrition, a healthy mind and exercise. Exercise, although not done by many, is definitely good for you. Doctors advise it, athletes swear by it. Exercise improves flexibility, strength, and most especially balance and coordination. Sports in particular such as dance, martial arts, or basketball help children and adults alike to coordinate actions done by the body. Moreover, it strengthens muscles to prevent further subluxations.
Nutrition too is another important aspect of a healthy life. Important nutrients for balance and coordination include sodium, calcium, potassium, and magnesium as they are needed in regulating nerve impulses and muscle activity. Without them, you would experience painful cramps. Blueberries in particular are a superfood that contains many nutrients for improving balance and coordination.
Improving balance and coordination is often taken for granted. But with the right exercise and nutrition you could be alive and kicking up to your 90's! And if you do not feel well, then there is always the chiropractor to check you out for any problems. One of the many things our Elkhorn, WI chiropractic office specializes in is treating Sports Injuries. We work with kids, weekend athletes, high school and college athletes, and pro athletes. Anyone that is active can end up with a sports injury that would benefit from being treated by a sports chiropractic clinic of Elkhorn, WI.
Many amateur and professional athletes are sidelined with injuries that could be avoided. Others sit it out on the bench because their injury does not respond to ordinary treatment. Still, others are playing, but at less than peak efficiency, simply because their structural system is not balanced. Progressive coaches, athletes, and doctors are realizing that pain killing drugs are not the answer. They merely cover up the symptoms, deceiving the athlete into actions which could make the injury more serious and longer lasting.
The Wellness Pointe's Chiropractic approach to health closely relates to the needs of the sports participant. Most sports involve body contact, fast starts and stops, and body positioning that places an unusual amount of strain on the back and structural system. The Wellness Pointe Chiropractic of Elkhorn, WI considers a person as an integrated being, giving special attention to the spine, joints, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and nerves.
Sports chiropractic is a natural health care method that stresses the importance of keeping all the systems of the body functioning efficiently so the player enjoys peak performance, experiences a minimum injury risk, and has fast recuperative powers.
Many world class and Olympic athletes, as well as professional stars and teams, have retained sports chiropractors to provide care. Joe Montana, Nolan Ryan, Muhammad Ali, Kareem Abdul-Jubbar, and Carl Lewis all utilize chiropractic care. The Players Association of the NFL has officially incorporated sports chiropractors as a regular part of care. Chiropractors have been selected as attending doctors at the Olympic Games and at national and world championships in track and field, cycling, volleyball, powerlifting, aerobics, and triathlons. Our Chiropractic Wellness office in Elkhorn, WI will not only help get you out of pain, but will try to find the cause so your symptoms don't return.

While chiropractic care has been around for over a hundred years, there are still many misconceptions about what chiropractic is all about, what it feels like, sounds like and why. And, if you’re hesitant about giving it a try, we’re here to calm your nerves and tell you a little bit more about what we’re all about.
We don’t snap, crackle or pop — we adjust.
An adjustment is a specific, highly accurate thrust that gently aligns your spine, as it should be, with absolutely no cracking of anything. Sometimes a popping sound is heard which is just the gas being released when your body moves into place.
Chiropractors have many years of education.
Today’s chiropractor receives a broad education very similar to medical doctors. In fact, it’s quite comparable to the education received by medical practitioners. Often, before acceptance to a five-year chiropractic college, prospective chiropractors must complete a minimum of four years of undergraduate work with a heavy emphasis on the basic sciences.
A medical doctor (MD) and a chiropractor (DC) while different have both received a degree from a government accredited medical school or chiropractic college and are licensed to practice.
Once you go, you don’t have to go forever… but you’ll probably want to!
Your health is completely up to you. You can come for relief, or to keep your body in shape and functioning as it should. Preventative care keeps you feeling your best and helps your body prevent aches and pains in the future. It’s just like visiting your dentist regularly!
Yes you can see a chiropractor after surgery.
Have you had surgery in the past? We’d love to sit down with you and talk to you about how chiropractic care can help. Rest assured that we would avoid the surgically modified areas of your spine.
Adjustments are gentle.
Most people explain that they feel calm and refreshed after an adjustment. Since repeated adjustments may be necessary, an adjustment must feel good to get the patients to return to finish their care… and they do! We’re experts at making adjustments feel good and ensuring you’re comfortable.
Chiropractors don’t just adjust your spine.
Wrist. Jaw. Shoulder. Elbow. Hip. Ankle. Back. Knee. Feet. Hands. We adjust them all!
Chiropractic care works so well and can be used virtually anywhere in the body and has effects on virtually every function of your body.
We’re here to support you.

Chiropractic for Children
Why would a child have a spine and nervous system problem? Traumatic births. Learning to walk. Slips. Falls. The list is endless. Yet, because children have such an adaptive capacity, these problems are often brushed off as “growing pains” or just a “phase they’re going through.”
“As the twig is bent, so grows the tree.”
When a child has some form of physical trauma or physical stress it puts their nervous system into a higher state of stress, or what we call "fight/flight".
How does this happen?
Most individuals and parents understand that the central nervous system is a very important system, if not, the MOST important system in maintaining and coordinating health. But most people don't understand the details of the central nervous system. The nervous system works in two modes of operation: 1.) sympathetic or "fight/flight" or "gas pedal" and 2.) parasympathetic or "growth/development" or "brake pedal". These two modes of operation, for the most part, are an autonomic (or automatic) response to our environment or our lifestyle.
When your little one is running around the soccer field, his/her sympathetic nervous system automatically engages to enhance other systems like the cardio-respiratory centers to increase heart rate, increase breathing, pushing blood and oxygen to fuel their muscles, and at the same time it weakens the response for systems such as immune modulation, growth and digestion. This "fight or flight" mode is designed to be "turned on" for a short period of time and then "turned off". So when your little one shakes hands at mid field and goes back to the van with mom and dad, the parasympathetic nervous system should automatically turn on while the sympathetic or "gas pedal/fight/flight" should be turned off so they can absorb and digest their healthy post-soccer game snack that mom has prepared for them. Make sense?
So what's the big problem?
One thing we must understand is "we cannot be in GROWTH and PROTECTION mode at the same time".
The biggest problem we see is the sympathetic or "gas pedal - protection mode" response gets "STUCK ON" for kids at an early age because of some sort of birth trauma (scheduled C-section, emergency C-section, vacuum, forcep delivery, increased in-utero constraint, breech position, etc), early childhood slips and falls, or mom experiences a very stressful pregnancy.
Because this protective "gas pedal" response gets "stuck on" the nervous system never has a chance to "grow and develop" and coordinate the other immature or developing systems such as: immune system, digestive system, endocrine, etc...
The BIGGER problem.
We live in a time where more children are suffering from chronic illnesses than ever before (allergies, ADD/ADHD, autism, breathing difficulties, gut problems, immune system imbalances, eczema, auto-immune disorders, etc) and the reason is simply STRESS (stressful pregnancy for mom, birth trauma for baby, GMO food, environmental chemicals, etc...) that has caused our "gas pedal" response to get "stuck on" and our body, or our children's bodies, never get to "grow and develop" as they are designed to.
How does Chiropractic and keeping your pregnancy less stressful help PREVENT this epidemic of sickness in our kids?
Your nervous system's role is to "perceive your environment and coordinate the behavior of every cell." When mom conceives, a half cell from dad and half cell from herself meet to form one cell (This ONE cell has all the functions of growth, respiration, reproduction, digestion, perception, etc that the ENTIRE body will need after it is bore into the world in roughly 9 months). This cell then undergoes replication and division for the next 9 months to grow a perfectly healthy baby.... but only if mom is under minimal stress. When mom's nervous system perceives a stressful environment it activates her "gas pedal" response. When this happens, mom's nervous system, which is coordinating the behavior (development) of her soon-to-be baby's tissues, organs, nervous system, etc.., does so, stressfully. Under these stressful circumstances; fear, pressure, poor diet, lack of movement, environmental toxins, etc..., it is very difficult to "grow and develop" a baby with healthy, well-functioning tissues, organs and systems.
The chiropractic adjustment, because it stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system, applies the "brakes" and slows mom's nervous system down and hence, allowing the "growth and development" of her baby to happen normally and naturally and a good doula or midwife will educate and empower soon-to-be mommas with the knowledge to make the best informed decisions for herself but more importantly, the baby - minimizing the emotional (mental) stress of mom during her pregnancy and help minimize the risk of birth trauma and other unnecessary interventions.
Chiropractors, doulas and midwives work together to help keep mom and the baby in "growth and development" mode. Because let's face it..... the 9 months of pregnancy is the biggest growth and development phase anyone will ever go through!
This is a great reason to consider a doula or midwife as well as a chiropractor for your pregnancy.

Many of us have already seen success in chiropractic care helping us with various problems and pain. However, chiropractic care is often seen as something you do for your back pain or neck pain. Though it is natural to associate chiropractic and back care, there is a multitude of other health concerns that may be helped through chiropractic care.
Some conditions that many have seen alleviated by chiropractic care are:
Surprised? Since chiropractic care is really about restoring nervous system control of your body, and your nervous system controls everything, we see many types of health issues other than back pain resolve with chiropractic care.
Chiropractic helps to remove the interference in your body that is causing your symptoms. This way your spine aligns into its proper position, boosting your entire body’s function and healing.
Questions about other conditions? Just ask, we may be able to help!
When confronted with a health issue, most people reach for the medicine cabinet to mask the symptoms and make themselves "feel" better. But does masking the symptoms really help us in any way long term?? What if we are chronically in pain but we've been masking the discomfort with muscle relaxers, advil, tylenol, pain killers, etc? Just because we cannot "feel" the issue does that mean that we have been Healed.
Lets say you're at home and you hear the smoke detector go off. Does it make sense to hit the button or pull the batteries out or does it make sense to sniff around for smoke or look for a fire?
Lets say, you're like most people and you pull the batteries out (mask the pain with muscle relaxers) and then 30 minutes later the smoke detector up stairs starts going off. So you run up stairs, you smell the smoke but don't see anything so you decide to pull the batteries out again. Now you're sitting up stairs watching t.v. and you feel some heat. You go to open your door and you're trapped in a blazing inferno and you have no way out!
This is how some people view health. The word health comes from the root word "heal". If your body is not in healing mode, you will never be healthy. The difference between symptom based health care and functional based health care is really simple. Symptom based masks the symptoms but never heals the body (it never puts the fire out) and functional based understands that symptoms are only a way of your body saying something is going wrong (your smoke detector is going off). So by prioritizing your function we get your body to "heal" as it's designed to.
If you or someone you know deals with their symptoms by keeping them silent/masking symptoms and needs someone to put their fire out/get their body back in healing mode then give us a call.
